The great Irish storyteller Colm Tóibín is famous for his captivating narrative artistry and his precise, yet close character descriptions. His novels - including the international bestseller "Brooklyn" and most recently its brilliant sequel "Long Island" - are world-famous. Now the writer is publishing his first volume of poetry: with his poems collected in Vinegar Hill, Colm Tóibín proves that his fine poetic intuition is also evident in his poetry. He also provides personal insights and recalls his childhood in Enniscorthy, Ireland, roams the streets of Dublin and Barcelona, crosses Venetian bridges and visits the White House. And he explores themes such as mortality, religion and queer love. In conversation, he meets Volker Schlöndorff, who translated the poems into German together with Michael Krüger.
