Vola 's sound could be described as a modern mix of bands like Porcupine Tree, Rammstein, Meshuggah, Mew and Massive Attack - but that would be too short to do justice to the unique approach of their music. Once an insider tip within the online djent scene, the Copenhageners have quickly become a leading band in the European prog genre thanks to their innovative sound on their debut album "Inmazes" . Their latest album " Witness" entered the German album charts for the first time in 2021 at number 52 and reached number 7 in the Top 10 of the UK Rock & Metal Album Charts. On tour with Katatonia, Monuments and Haken as well as supporting Anathema and Dream Theater, Vola have quickly shed their insider tip status and steadily expanded their fanbase with performances at scene festivals such as the UK Tech Metal Fest, Complexity Fest, Euroblast and ProgPower Europe. Vola were also able to break into the metal mainstream and prove themselves with their independent style at festivals such as Roskilde, Copenhell, Summer Breeze and Brutal Assault. After their headlining tour in the USA and South America, the Danes will return to Germany in November on their biggest European tour to date.

Founded in 2006 by Asger Mygind (guitar and vocals), Vola released their first EP "Homesick Machinery" in 2008. After a few line-up changes, the band finally found a sound that would shape their future with the release of their second EP "Monsters" (2011). Their raw sound between hard riffs, ethereal synthesizers ("Stray The Skies") and calm and harmonious moments ("Gutter Moon") established a style on their debut album " Inmazes" (2015) that was already hinted at on "Monsters"and effortlessly stood out within the Djent movement. Signed to Mascot Records in 2016, a re-release of the debut album followed, resulting in a number of positive reviews and bringing the band to wider attention. With influences from djent, industrial and progressive rock, Vola released their second album "Applause Of A Distant Crowd" in 2018. "Ghosts " and "Alien Shivers" show the band from a poppy alternative metal side, while "Smartfriend"builds on the heaviness of their debut. On their third album "Witness" (2021), they further consolidate and refine the style they found early on. Between the intricate grooves and blistering guitar riffs on the singles "Head Mounted Sideways" and "Straight Lines", there are always catchy choruses and atmospheric synthesizers and quiet moments. And "Witness" sounds anything but one-dimensional: "24 Light-Years" convinces with a modern approach between alternative metal and prog, while "Freak" is completely dedicated to the band's progressive rock roots. To promote the album during the pandemic, Vola played a streaming concert in 2021, which was released as a live album ("Live From The Pool") in 2022 and featured songs from all albums in a live context. With their latest single "Paper Wolf", which was released in August 2023, Vola continue to develop their unique sound. As groovy and catchy as ever, the Danes quickly make it clear that their innovative approach is far from over.
