Else Falk shaped the Cologne women's movement for decades - as chairwoman of the Cologne Women's Association, founder of social institutions and co-initiator of numerous cultural projects. Her commitment to equal rights, social justice and education made her a central figure in Cologne's city history, but one that is almost forgotten today.

Under the title "Else Falk - an unknown leader", Irene Franken, historian and co-founder of the Cologne Women's History Association, will shed light on the life and work of this committed women's rights activist and social reformer. The lecture traces the eventful life of Else Falk - from her commitment in Cologne to her exile in Brazil.

The lecture is part of the accompanying program to the exhibition "Pioneers of Change - the First Women's Movement in Cologne", of the Historical Archive with Rheinisches Bildarchiv, which you can still see until 22 March 2026.
