VOX SAMBOU
Pre- & afterparty with DJ Carlos with Caribbean Afrobeat
The charismatic MC, poet and bandleader Vox Sambou from Haiti embodies the spirit of Fela Kuti and Bob Marley. With his energetic music, which combines Afrobeat, funk, reggae, hip-hop and rhythms from the entire African diaspora, he has so far thrilled North and South America. For his German debut, he will be accompanied by the excellent Afro-futuristic singer Malika Tirolien (known from the Snarky Puppy environment) and his 5-piece band.
Vox Sambou is a multilingual artist, fluent in Haitian, French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. As co-founder of the Montréal-based hip-hop collective Nomadic Massive, he focuses on social issues against injustice and social imbalances while spreading hope, joy and optimism through his music.
His recently released fourth solo album, "We Must Unite" (2023), is a tribute to the women and men of Haiti, highlighting their resilience in different societies such as Haiti, Brazil, Chile, North America and Africa. It is a fusion of traditional Haitian rhythms and Candomblé rhythms from Brazil, rooted in Vox's own sound based on hip-hop, reggae and Afrobeat.
