Wachhaus #14: Benita Thisbe Tauer

Benita Thisbe Tauer has created an expansive installation in the guardhouse at the rocket station that questions the patriarchal structure of the traditional "guardhouse". A space that defies strictness - softly drawn, feminized, almost dreamlike. Delicate, "feminine" elements transform the guardhouse into a super soft version of itself. The words "Enjoy your soft protection" can be read in purple/pink on a fluffy flokati. A deep blue velvet-covered shell sits enthroned in the middle of the room, bedded on satin cushions. Voices emanate from inside. A fleeting sound. A whispering poem about power, super soft, almost floating - but the content remains uncomfortable. Pulsating sound waves vibrate via bodyshakers on the windows. The installation refers to a bedchamber that Adolf Loos designed for his wife.
