Weave your own rug from scrap materials

In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of weaving and transform fabric scraps or excess plastic into a small hand-woven rug.

You’ll tension the warp thread on a vertical loom, work with various scrap materials, and learn how to remove your woven piece from the frame. It’s not just about technique, but also about color, texture, the value of materials, and the joy of creating something new with your own hands.

An open workshop for anyone interested in sustainability, creativity, and collaborative work.

What to expect

• Introduction to the basic techniques of weaving
• Working on a vertical loom
• Tensioning the warp and removing the weaving from the frame
• Weaving with fabric scraps or excess plastic
• Creative exploration of materials, color, and texture
• Discussion about handicrafts, community, and sustainable use of materials

Good to know

• No prior experience required
• Looms, tools, and materials are provided
• You can bring your own fabric scraps, but you don’t have to
• Please wear comfortable clothing
• The workshop will take place with a minimum of 6 participants.

A workshop by Upsi(dogi) Son Sea.The Berlin-based artist works with weaving techniques, surplus materials, and collaborative design processes. In her practice, she uses fabrics, packaging materials, and other scraps as a starting point for new woven objects.
