WATCH ME RISE JAHRESABSCHLUSSSHOW 2023
PICK OF THE DAY
You cannot miss this event.
In the organizer's words:
Founded in December 2017, the band's music is somewhere between emo, post hardcore and classic punk rock. In the first two years of their still young band history, the four guys from Frankfurt have already played almost 80 shows. Their first EP "Of Anxious Minds and Sleepless Nights" was released on October 6, 2018. A sold-out release show was followed by the first tour through Germany, supported by "RCKLSS" from Brighton. A weekender tour with "The Kids We Used to Know" from the USA followed just under a month later. The year 2019 started with an immense stroke of fate, drummer Sven battled with a cancer diagnosis, but this did not prevent him and the band from playing a large number of live shows again. "IT'S NOT ABOUT GIVING UP. IT'S ABOUT THE JOURNEY FROM: "HELLO WORLD - I HAVE THIS SHIT NOW", TO I WILL GIVE EVERYTHING TO GET BETTER." (Josh and Sven in the "Away From Life" interview (27.10.2019)). Under this motto, the guys played as support for scene greats such as "Listener" (US), "Skywalker" and "Napoleon" (UK). After several festival appearances and a tour through Germany and the Czech Republic with "The Pariah", the release of the 7" vinyl "CANCER//ADDICT" followed, which was recorded and produced by Hauke Albrecht ("Captain Planet", "Turbostaat") and Alan Douches ("The Misfits", "Converge", "Architects", etc.). The setlist of the subsequent headlining tour was completed with the two emotional and highly personal songs.
After a sold-out show at the Schlachthof in Wiesbaden in February 2020, Watch me Rise's live plans were abruptly put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, this was not to put a damper on the band. Since May 2020, the band has been working on new songs with a fresh line-up. After a successful tour in the fall of 2022 and another sold-out Schlachthof in January 2023, listeners and viewers can look forward to a band that has developed from an insider tip in the (alternative) Frankfurt music scene to a Germany-wide moving band in a very short time. In April and June 2022, the band released their first two singles in over two years, "Black Dots" and "Wrong Way", written by the new line-up. Both songs were very well received, the music video for "Black Dots" reached over 15,000 views on YouTube in a very short time and the streaming numbers also rose significantly. The festival summer was once again packed with highlights with shows at the Trebur Open Air, the Rock auf der Burg Festival and many more. The subsequent Austria and Germany tour was consistently well attended, with Leipzig, Bayreuth and Berlin sold out.
In January 2023, the decision was made to add a second guitarist to the band, Shamgi, and the first show as a five-piece took place in the Germany-wide renowned Schlachthof Wiesbaden in front of 1,200 people.
