When the party's over

Under the motto "When the party's over", the University of Cologne's jazz choir is presenting a program this semester that, contrary to expectations, is not dedicated to a party, but to everything that happens around it. It's about friendship, "situationship", hope, spurned love, the Sunday morning after the party and the humanity that unites us.
Jazzy, groovy sounds and exciting solo ensembles from Billie Eillish, Maroon 5 and Coldplay to Britney Spears await you on this concert evening. The jazz choir invites you to dance, groove, reflect, revel and swing along.

The University of Cologne Jazz Choir was founded in 2008 by Dietrich Thomas. Julia Reckendrees took over the direction of the ensemble in October 2019. Most of the choir's members are students at the University of Cologne. In addition to jazz standards, the choir focuses on the choral realization of sophisticated pop songs and pieces on the border between contemporary classical music and jazz. Its greatest successes include a gold medal at the World Choir Games in Sochi, Russia, in 2016, second place at the German Choir Competition in Weimar in 2014 and first place at the NRW State Choir Competition in Dortmund in 2017. In 2018, the choir won best place in the "Jazz and Pop Choirs with Trio" category at the German Choir Competition in Freiburg. Further information can be found on the homepage of the jazz choir.
