After World War II, French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman launched the precursor to the European Union with one goal in mind: that European countries should never again experience war. The European Union has fulfilled this goal ever since: no EU member state has had to endure war since then.

Now, however, the EU is under attack from both the West and the East: With Trump and Putin, two autocratic leaders have declared war on the EU. How can we hold our ground, and what role do German federal politics and the Green Party’s parliamentary group play in this?

Bundestag Member Toni Hofreiter, Chair of the Committee on European Affairs, andTom Wilmersdörffer, a member of the Executive Board of the Zentral Local Chapter, will discuss these issues. Our local chapter spokesperson,Meike Missler, will moderate the discussion.
