Wie SEKEM die Wüste zum Blühen bringt: Vortrag in Stuttgart-Obertürkheim
In the organizer's words:
SEKEM, an Oikocredit partner since 2012, is a value-based organization for sustainable development and social innovation in Egypt. From biodynamic agriculture to vocational training programs and its own university: SEKEM impressively demonstrates how a holistic approach can contribute to a more sustainable world.
Since 1976, SEKEM has been committed to sustainable agriculture in a place where farming seems almost unimaginable: in the middle of the Egyptian desert. Through innovative, water-saving irrigation systems, it is possible to transform barren desert land into fertile, living oases.
Education officer Marc Ehrmann reports on his trip with Oikocredit in October 2025 - and on impressions that moved him deeply. He was particularly impressed by SEKEM's holistic approach, which combines economy, ecology, social issues and culture. The company shows how sustainable business can succeed when people and the environment are consistently considered together.
What is the vision behind this extraordinary model? What challenges does SEKEM face today - and what solutions are emerging? And how does the initiative influence Egyptian society?
An authentic travelogue will provide answers to these questions and open our eyes to a project that goes far beyond agriculture.
The event starts at 19:00 in the rooms of St. Andrew's Church at Heidelbeerstr. 5, 70329 Stuttgart-Obertürkheim.
The event is free of charge, donations are requested.
The cooperation partners Faire Gemeinde der Evangelischen Gesamtkirchengemeinde Obertürkheim - Uhlbach and the Oikocredit Förderkreis Baden-Württemberg e.V. cordially invite you to attend.
