Wie viele Bäume braucht die Stadt der Zukunft? – KStA-Live-Talk im Rahmen der Serie „100 Ideen für Köln“

Last year, Cologne presenter and author Jürgen Domian suggested planting 50 cherry trees in front of the Cologne Opera House in the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger's "100 ideas for Cologne" series. The cherry blossom splendor on Offenbachplatz is unlikely to come to fruition, as monument protection stands in the way. Nevertheless, we want to talk about Cologne and its trees. Jürgen Domian, Melanie Ihlenfeld, head of Cologne's green spaces department, and Michael Hundt, head of the city's forestry administration, will be guests on the panel of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger's Workstage Veedel.

Forests and trees are a natural air conditioning system, rainwater reservoir and habitat for plants and animals. But space in the city is scarce, and trees have to be removed time and again when buildings or roads are built. This regularly causes resentment in parts of the population. We will also talk about this in the live talk "How many trees does the city of the future need?".

The ticket proceeds will go to the tree planting project "10,000 trees for Cologne", which the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger launched to mark its 150th birthday. On November 14, the trees will be planted on a plot of land provided by the city of Cologne together with the donors.

The talk will be organized by the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger in cooperation with Sparkasse Köln-Bonn. It will be hosted by Julia Hahn-Klose and Susanne Rohlfing from the local politics team of the local editorial office.
