Wolfgang Kerler, Lionel Dante Dzaack: Maschinen für den Sound der Zukunft?
In the organizer's words:
Episode #03 of the 1E9 x Digital Stage discussion series
What is AI doing to music and the people behind it? On streaming platforms—which, aside from megastars, barely turn a profit anyway—musicians have long been competing with AI-generated tracks that require no performance fees, no royalties, and no sleep. Is this the end of music as we know it—or is something completely new emerging here? The third episode of the 1E9 x Digitale Bühne series tackles precisely this topic: between Suno and Spotify, between copyright and authorship, between panic and a new beginning. We’ll hear what people and machines create together—and discuss who ultimately profits from it.
Following this, LIONEL AND THE NEVER-EXISTING BAND will demonstrate what a collaboration between humans and AI can look like beyond automatically generated music. The concert performance does not use AI-generated songs, but rather a specially developed AI system that reacts in real time to the live performance and expands the band to include virtual musicians, instruments, and musical dialogues. This creates a constantly evolving lineup of humans, machines, and projections.
