From airy depths to glistening heights, a melody like a ray! The Freiburg Jazz Choir turns music into a natural event. Founded in 1990 by Bertrand Gröger, this top ensemble sings what no one else sings. For decades, the Jazzchor Freiburg has stood for outstanding quality and innovation. Important awards such as 1st prize at the Choir Olympics in Korea in 2002 and CD productions such as "Schwing!" or "Live in Japan" made the choir, which has worked with greats such as Bobby McFerrin and the Swingle Singers, nationally and internationally famous at an early stage.
With its new program "Infusion", the jazz choir dares to do something unheard of. Instrumental numbers from the fusion era by Pat Metheny, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock, Esbjörn Svensson and Chick Corea were written for the versatile ensemble with lyrics and complex, sensual arrangements. Also on board - the charismatic trumpeter Joo Kraus. In the formation "Tab Two" (electric bass: Hellmut Hattler), founded in 1987, he mixed soul, funk and hip-hop into an exciting cocktail and brought jazz to the dancefloor and into the international charts. Together with the choir's experienced backing band (p, b, dr), it provides the necessary flow.
