Song recital in cooperation with the Robert Schumann Hochschule.

Students of the vocal classes present the final concert of the master class with the renowned soprano Dorothee Mields. Luca Quintavalle and Prof. Tobias Koch will accompany her on the fortepiano. Prof. Dr. Gundela Bobeth, Director of the Institute of Musicology, will give a brief introduction to the program.

The evening takes us back to the world of Goethe's time: from early settings that are hardly known today - such as Bernhard Theodor Breitkopf's simple "Liebe und Tugend" (1769) - to Franz Schubert's groundbreaking "Gretchen am Spinnrade" (1814), which is considered the beginning of the Romantic art song.

Rarely performed songs by Zelter, Reichardt, Schröter, Anna Amalia, Bettina von Arnim, Sterkel, Mozart and Beethoven, among others, can be heard. The works come from the music collection of the Goethe Museum and open a lively window into the musical taste and mood of Goethe's time.
