The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne is hosting a concert by the XYQuartet on January 22, 2026 at 7 pm in its Thetaer Hall.

The XY Quartet was born from the joint desire of Nicola Fazzini and Alessandro Fedrigo to create their own sound world for improvisational possibilities and new forms of music writing. Founded in 2011, the formation has released six albums on nusica.org (Idea F, XY, Orbite, QuartettoQuartetto, StraborDante, Lexycon) and can be considered a reference for new Italian jazz in every respect: in 2014 and 2017 it was named second best Italian band by Musica Jazz magazine and has participated in the most important national and European jazz festivals as part of an intense concert activity. The XY Quartet is characterized by great power and expressiveness in its live performances, processing musical material in a constant back and forth between composition and improvisation. In recent years, the XY Quartet has realized several original live projects, including 5 Astronauts, a multimedia concert in collaboration with video artist Claudio Sichel, and StraborDante, a performance with vocals by John De Leo and multivisions by Francesco Lo Pergolo inspired by Dante Alighieri's Inferno. The ensemble has performed at numerous national festivals and on European and international tours.
