Music is usually regarded as a "universal language" that is understood all over the world. But how does exile - the flight from hardship and the new beginning in a foreign country - affect the work of artists? What role does home play in music?
The musicians of the chamber concert "Exile and Music" asked themselves these questions and put together a multifaceted program for clarinet, violin, cello and piano.
In addition to I. Stravinsky's "Soldier's Tale" and B. Bartók's "Contrasts", B. Martinu's 3rd Piano Trio and other works by Rachmaninov, Eisler, Ligeti and Milhaud.
Each of these composers experienced emigration in a unique way, but they were all shaped by their exile and at the same time influenced the musical world of their new homeland.
