ZESTIVAL VIII mit NEBELKRÄHE, THE NEIGHBOURS, RAPID, AMPLIFIED MEMORY, FARBFILTER, THE JAN SOLO PROJECT und SUNDOG

NEBELKRÄHE
Founded in Munich in 2007, NEBELKRÄHE carved out a niche for themselves on their debut album "entfremdet" (2009) and its successor "Lebensweisen" (2013) by combining black metal with elements from other genres. After ten years of work, the third album " ephemer", released in October 2023, follows on from this: NEBELKRÄHE ate dreams and drank lye for this album - and spit it out as music that combines dazzling melodies and a pitch-black atmosphere. The German-language lyrics tell of blurred boundaries, lost youth and shattered dreams - as a tribute to the allure and horrors of transience. Rabid riffs with harsh screaming characterize "ephemer" as well as lovely melodies. The musicians involved are/were involved in "Atrorum", "Azavatar", "Golden Dawn", "Inarborat", "Nothgard", "Thorngoth" and "Perdition's Light", among others. (Source: Organizer)

THE NEIGHBOURS
In the 90s, the music genre of the band from Bad Tölz would have been called crossover. Since their birth in 1997, THE NEIGHBOURS have hardly stopped at any genre. They have cheerfully mixed punk rock with pop, ska with metal and prog with funk. The band treated every song like an individual little work of art, without caring much about continuity or belonging to a scene. Can THE NEIGHBOURS be described as unmarketable? Absolutely. Is it still entertaining to watch this whirlwind of emotions at full volume on stage? Definitely! Their active time is long gone. The only place you can still see THE NEIGHBOURS live is at Zestival - they are the nucleus of the festival, the original band that started it all. Each of the musicians has since moved on to other bands according to their individual musical preferences. But THE NEIGHBOURS have never officially disbanded. After all, you can't just break up a family. And what remains is good energy and genuine sibling love. (Source: Organizer)

RELATIV RAPID play (mostly relatively) fast ska: crisp horns meet a snappy riddim' group, plus a lot of (sometimes polyphonic) vocal melodies with an extreme catchiness. Other genres such as rock'n'roll, reggae, polka, salsa & cumbia, punk, disco, jazz or klezmer flow into the music time and again. In between there are calm but danceable ballads, sunny good-mood ska or sometimes a classic Jamaican traditional. But not only do the styles come from all over the world, the mostly critical and often very thought-provoking or socio-political lyrics (in German, English, Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic or Bavarian) also have the same goal: you can simply dance and party to them, but you can also hear the message behind them, that people all over the world - regardless of skin color, religion or language - have the same passions and dreams. AMPLIFIED MEMORY
Dreams, recurring patterns, memories, desires, the question of reality or simply the longing for the unexplored vastness of the universe: these are the themes that the six-piece band AMPLIFIED MEMORY, active since 2008, deals with and processes in their own musical vision of progressive and melodic extreme metal. From emotional, black metal ballads to intricate mid-tempo songs and fast death bangers, AMPLIFIED MEMORY stand for an innovative mix of different metal subgenres with a focus on 90s melodic death metal. At the Zestival there will be several live premieres of songs from their third album, which the musicians around ex-"Rapid" keyboarder Simon and "Nebelkrähe" and "Rapid" drummer Felix are currently working on. THE JAN SOLO PROJECT
JAN SOLO are a rock band from Munich led by singer, guitarist and songwriter Jan Reiser. They play grooving rock with influences from blues, soul and country and strong hooklines that are easy on the ear and tend to stay there. Jan has been musically active in various bands since 1996. Since 2017, he has been releasing new songs from his home forge at irregular intervals. THE JAN SOLO PROJECT has now developed into a permanent band after several line-up changes, which is why the "project" will also be successively removed from the name. Jan's oldest band buddy Bernhard Neunhoeffer, who co-founded the "NEIGHBOURS", is on drums. On the second guitar is Marcel Thenée, rock journalist (guitar) and southern states representative, who brings a whole new bluesy timbre to the mix with his slide. The latest addition to the band is Andi Ziegler on bass, who gets things grooving with aplomb. (Source: band info)

SUNDOG
With the intensity of a ritual dance, SUNDOG pays homage to an instinctive and ominous manifestation of rock and blues. Rough, loud and sometimes ecstatic. The band came together in 2015, played a lot, released two EPs and performed their dance for 5 years. Then came nothing, and nobody danced anymore. In April 2024, they released their first album "The Happy Few " - a longing for movement, chaos and pain turned into music. For life. This year, the dance continues. (Source: Organizer)

FARBFILTER.
Black summer in a white winter: FARBFILTER. set their own accents in the play of pigments, delivering their songs with force and forward momentum, directly and honestly. German-language rock music without posturing, more approachable than it has been for a long time. As agitating as Die Nerven, as sarcastically biting as "Isolation Berlin", then again upbeat and melancholy like "Die Höchste Eisenbahn" - and as soon as you start drawing parallels, suddenly everything is completely different again.
