ZIMMER FREI

Every year, the Hotel Mariandl / Café am Beethovenplatz becomes a special art venue. Since 2000, the artist project "ZIMMER FREI" has been creating special exhibition and production opportunities for young international artists in the listed hotel in collaboration with the Department of Culture. Here, international young artists move into twelve hotel rooms with installations, photographs, videos, paintings and performances, while the hotel continues to operate normally on the other floors. The following artists are represented this year: Babi Brüller, Florian Donnerstag, Janna Jirkova, Ju Young Kim, Justin Urbach, Luisa Baldhuber, Maxine Weiss, Nina Markhardt, Santiago Archila Salcedo, Tatjana Vall, Veronica Burnuthian & Aelita le Quément and Vincent Hannwacker. The exhibition will open on Tuesday, October 15, 7 p.m., with a welcoming address by City Councillor David Süß (Green Party - Rosa Liste) on behalf of the Lord Mayor and can be viewed from Wednesday, October 16, to Sunday, October 20, daily from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Hotel Mariandl, Goethestrasse 51. Free admission. On Saturday, October 19, the exhibition will be open until 1 a.m. for the Long Night of Munich Museums and Galleries, from 6 p.m. only with a valid admission ticket.
