As early as 1971, Ghanaian filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo called for the return of African cultural assets in "You hide me". His film impressively shows how long this debate was suppressed. More than 50 years later, the film "Dahomey" by Mati Diop follows the return of 26 art treasures to Benin - including a statue that appears in the film itself.
