In the organizer's words:
With the exhibition "The Lunar Year of the Horse. A Gallop through Time and Space", the Museum of East Asian Art takes a look at one of the most powerful animals in East Asian art and cultural history. For over two millennia, the horse has shaped the arts and cultures of China, Korea and Japan - as a celestial mount, status symbol and emblem of strength, power and virtue. To mark the lunar year of the Fire Horse, which begins in East Asia on February 17, 2026, paintings and woodcut prints, ceramics and porcelain, bronze sculptures and lacquer objects illustrate the multifaceted significance of the horse from the 3rd century BC to modern times.
