Zwischen Sirenen - Wörter und Klänge in Zeiten der Krise | ein eurpäisches Konzert

Eight musicians from Hauts-de-France, Silesia, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Ukraine are seeking a shared artistic response to a time of widespread uncertainty—through contemporary music and Ukrainian contemporary poetry. Directed by Norbert Rodenkirchen, featuring the world premiere of a work by Scott Fields.

Under the artistic direction of Norbert Rodenkirchen, eight musicians from Hauts-de-France, Silesia, North Rhine-Westphalia, and Ukraine are coming together for the first time in Bonn: Bettina Marugg (voice), Natalia Kozhushko-Maksymiv (flute, alto flute), Justyna Sliwa (viola), Nathan Bontrager (cello), Dmytro Radzetskyi (guitar), Nadia Mikolajczyk (marimba), Barbara Dang (microtonal harpsichord), and Ostap Manuliak (synthesizer).

During a five-day workshop, they will collaboratively develop a program that brings contemporary music from the participating regions—featuring works by Scott Fields, Anna Dobrucka, Jean Luc Guionnet, Bohdan Sehin, and Ostap Manuliak—into dialogue with contemporary Ukrainian poetry: improvisations as well as solo, duo, and ensemble works. The highlight is the world premiere of Scott Fields’ “A Five-Cornered Triangle,” composed specifically for Kulturatrium 2026, for the entire ensemble.

The texts are by Ukrainian authors Yulia Musakovska, Oleh Lycheha, Ostap Slyvynsky, and Katarina Kalitko and are presented in multiple languages: set to music, read aloud, and in artistically innovative hybrid forms. A program booklet and artistically designed live projections by Andreas Henrich offer additional perspectives and interpretations.
