The ports have always been Bremen's lifeline and have shaped the city's identity for centuries. In the listed Speicher XI warehouse, the museum forms the interface between the past and the future: it is part of the changing Überseestadt and conveys the development of urban planning as well as the activities of Bremen's port industry and the constant change and progress in all maritime sectors.
The port museum shows history with a view - it is committed to the port, its history, present and future.
Museum of communication
The focus and strength of the port museum is education: we offer educational programs in the museum and in the port area for all age and target groups. In addition to guided tours for adults and families, programs for school classes of all ages are of central importance to our museum.
Through events such as lectures, readings and festivals, the port museum also assumes the role of a cultural meeting place in the west of Bremen.
