The Heinrich Heine Institute, dedicated to the literary figure, is located in the historic patrician houses at Bilker Strasse 12 - 14 and, with an archive, library, museum and numerous events, is an important center of literary and cultural mediation. The world's only Heinrich Heine Museum displays manuscripts, first editions and letters, contemporary portraits and Heine's death mask. The institute also houses the Rhenish Literature Archive and the Robert Schumann Collection.
