The Cologne Rhine Cleanup Squad is Germany's largest volunteer trash collection group. At the end of 2021, the team opened the MÜLLseum in Humboldt-Gremberg and has since been presenting curious and special finds from three years of waste collection in Cologne. Among them are plastic packaging of brands that have long since disappeared as well as blue metal jars of a well-known cream manufacturer from a total of six decades. The artist Barbara Mekhneche proves that trash can sometimes also be beautiful: she has created a work of art from the more than 10,000 plastic cotton swabs she collected in the Rhine meadows, reminiscent of the Richter window in the cathedral.
