Room L 3 shows the art project "Of Hands and Music", which transforms the hands of important female musicians into lifelike sculptures and thus preserves them for future generations.

Even in past centuries, great attention was paid to the depiction of hands in artists' portraits.

So Ute Krafft takes up a very old tradition and transfers it into a modern age: she sculpts the hands of important musicians and brings them closer to people in exhibitions than ever before.

On display are sculptures of musicians' hands that will remain a permanent part of a museum's collection. The technique used makes use of a very fine material from the field of medicine, which not only makes it possible to produce sculptural images that are true to the millimetre in just a few minutes, but also reproduces the musicians' spontaneous gestural expression exactly. In this way, they are directly and creatively involved in the artistic design. Ute Krafft is convinced that the hands, as tools of creative expression, are also evidence of artistic personality.
