THE TAMS THEATER

The Theater am Sozialamt - TamS for short - is a private theater in Munich. It celebrated its first premiere on January 27, 1970 in an old shower bath in the Schwabing district that it had previously converted itself. The charming backyard theater is considered one of the few experimental theaters to have survived since its founding during Munich's cultural upheaval (late 1960s to 1970s). This is mainly thanks to the theater's unique programmatic feature: a mixture of absurd, literary and political theater; on its 50th birthday in January 2020, TamS was recognized by numerous media as a cultural address and institution in the Bavarian capital.
