With our Best OFF FLINTA series, we aim to create a space at OFF Broadway where FLINTA directors receive special attention. Over the course of three months, we’ll focus on a specific theme, screening a selected film for you on the second Monday of every month.

We are a team of eight staff members at OFF Broadway. Since in 2025 only about 20% of the films shown here at OFF were directed by FLINTA individuals, we believe there is a need for a program that specifically focuses on these perspectives, puts marginalized people at the center, and counteracts gender imbalance in the film program.

We have deliberately chosen the acronym FLINTA—that is, women, lesbian, intersex, non-binary, trans, and agender people— because our goal is not only to show films by cisgender women but also to include diverse, including queer, perspectives in our program that are otherwise often overlooked.

Block I: Best OFF Coming of Age

Between new beginnings and a sense of disorientation, conformity and self-assertion: coming-of-age stories accompany people through a phase of life marked by change. With great sensitivity, humor, or radical physicality, they open up new perspectives on the coming-of-age film genre and tell stories that highlight the diversity of FLINTA life experiences.
