Grupo Senzala is one of the oldest and largest capoeira groups in the world. Founded in the 1960s in Rio de Janeiro, the group's special feature has always been that different styles and personalities of capoeira stand together in respect and equality and learn from each other. The resulting mentality and movement was the foundation stone for "Capoeira Contemporânea".

Senzala Cologne was officially founded in 2015 under the supervision of Mestre Chão (based in Lyon, France) and is an integral part of the regional capoeira landscape. With several weekly training sessions with Professora Vento and Professor Tranquilão, as well as several workshops with Mestre Chão each year, we pursue a clear goal: to practice, cultivate and develop the capoeira culture in the form taught by Mestre Chão.
