Elbsommer is back at last! For over twenty years, the series of events has been enlivening promenades, parks and squares around the Elbe and Bille rivers. Every weekend, the districts near the Elbe are transformed into meeting places for everyone with a variety of events. Whether you simply want to enjoy the evening in the sun or are actively looking for a program, this is the right place for you.

Originally launched as a summer in HafenCity, the elbsommer has become a permanent fixture in Hamburg's summer calendar over the course of more than two decades - with no admission charge. Free, non-commercial and accessible to all. This is how summer should be.

elbsommer program: culture, sport and music for every taste

Every weekend from June to August, the districts close to the Elbe are transformed into a stage for the full life. The program is as colourful as Hamburg itself: Open-air concerts on the edge of the harbor, stand-up comedy on Überseeboulevard, outdoor yoga and pilates, disc golf on Kaltehofe, creative workshops, family festivals, guided tours of historical sites, photo safaris, poetry slams and much more.

Over 30 different events and programmes are put on every year by a growing network of local partners, associations, organizations and sponsors. On a voluntary basis, with a lot of passion and a clear goal: to bring urban spaces to life and facilitate encounters. The series of events is initiated by HafenCity Hamburg GmbH and supported by numerous local supporters.

The backdrop is unbeatable! The elbsommer takes place at changing locations in Hamburg's districts close to the Elbe, above all in HafenCity and Rothenburgsort. Strandhöft in particular, right on the water between the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and Grasbrookhafen, has become one of the most popular venues: Water on the right, skyline on the left, good atmosphere everywhere.

Lohsepark and the squares and promenades around Baakenhafen are also part of the Elbe summer's territory. Locations that are often just places to pass through in everyday life suddenly pulsate in summer.
