On September 20, 2025, Hamburg will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the inclusion of the Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus district on the UNESCO World Heritage List with the Long Night of World Heritage. The event is organized by HHLA Immobilien in cooperation with the City of Hamburg's Department of Culture and Media.

A look behind the scenes of the World Heritage Site

From 6 p.m., numerous historical sites in the Speicherstadt and Kontorhaus district will open their doors and offer exclusive insights. Visitors can expect a varied program: for fans of puzzles, there is the OPOLUM Escape Game, in which participants can discover hidden secrets of the Speicherstadt with tablets and night vision devices. Miniatur Wunderland takes guests on a tour behind the scenes of Wunderland. For visitors who prefer humor and poetry, there is the Poetry Slam in the Speicherstadt coffee roastery. Spicy's Spice Museum invites you on a journey through time with its Hamburg Merchants' Tour, which ends with a tasting of a wide variety of spices, while the Speicherstadt Museum delves deep into the history of the district and offers various guided tours. These include a scenic and very humorous guided tour with actress Kerstin Poetting. The Maritime Museum is also taking part and offering discounted tickets. The international character of the Speicherstadt is reflected by the language school Institute 4 Languages , which offers guided tours of the Speicherstadt in English as well as mini language courses and a pub quiz.

Festival of Lights

A special highlight is the Festival of Lights, which starts on September 18 and runs until September 20. The Speicherblock P (Neuer Wandrahm 1-4) will be transformed into a huge projection screen. The history of the Speicherstadt and the Kontorhaus district will be told artistically in impressive light installations - a visual experience that combines history and modernity.
