In the artist's words:

Even before they release music together, Almost Twins have become an insider tip on the Leipzig and Berlin indie scene. Within a year, the indie folk band from Leipzig played at several festivals and clubs throughout Germany and recorded their debut album in Berlin with producer and bassist Alexander Binder (Anna Erhard, Dota, Crucchi Gang, Anna Hauss). In their songs, they play with complementary opposites and oscillate between subtle complexity and the charming simplicity of honest songs.

In search of sonic expansion, singer and guitarist Max Grüner, who initially started Almost Twins as a solo project, found an almost twin-like understanding in his four bandmates through their shared closeness to music. Laurenz Welten (saxophone, clarinet), Valentin Mühlberger (Wurlitzer, synth), Raphael Schuster (drums) and Arne Imig (bass) complement Max's songs in a way that gives his emotions the necessary expression without being pathetic. Warm synth carpets and circling Wurlitzer patterns combine with dreamy saxophone and clarinet lines to create a sound that feels light without losing its depth, radiates calm and yet allows itself to break out of it. A perfect singer-songwriter's dream, reminiscent of Erlend Øye (Kings Of Convenience), José Gonzáles or This Is The Kit.

As part of the bands Welten, Rocket Men, Collector and Nouk, the five musicians have performed separately in recent years at Fusion, at.tension, Palaissommer Dresden and the Elbphilharmonie. Together as Almost Twins, the new band has already performed live at the Wipfelrauschen, Zugvögel, Detect Classic, Alinae Lumre and Roots & Sprouts festivals.
