Gellert Ensemble

The Gellert Ensemble is a renowned group of independent musicians who are dedicated to performing works for choir and orchestra. Depending on the requirements of the music, the instrumentation adapts flexibly, which leads to new and exciting ensemble constellations at every concert. Nevertheless, the unmistakable sound character of the Gellert Ensemble is always preserved, which is also confirmed by the media.

The Gellert Ensemble specializes in the core repertoire of Central German composers from the second half of the 18th century. The ensemble's projects are supported by various sponsors, including the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture, Mitteldeutsche Barockmusik, the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony and the City of Leipzig. The Gellert Ensemble has already been invited to renowned events and concerts in Germany and internationally.

Within the ensemble, Andreas Mitschke as conductor, Christoph Koop as dramaturge and Christoph Jäger as the person responsible for management contribute to the successful realization of the musical projects.
