1. Münchner Poetry Slam - Schulmeisterschaft

Poetry slam has been the world's most popular literary format for many years and has found a home in Munich at the Münchner Volkstheater. On the one hand, the modern poetry competition is now listed as an intangible UNESCO World Heritage Site, but on the other hand it is still young, on the pulse of the times, topical, political, critical and funny.

Young audiences in particular find access to literary life through the playful concept of literary competition, as the always sold-out U20 Poetry Slam on Stage 2 in Munich's Volkstheater makes clear. The low-threshold participation opportunity is in turn used by many young people to get creative themselves and find their way into the public eye with their own texts.

Now the Münchner Volkstheater is going one step further and inviting Munich schools and schools in the Munich S-Bahn area to the 1st Munich Poetry Slam School Championships. The young poets now not only compete for themselves but also represent their school, cheered on by hundreds of pupils on the big stage of the Volkstheater.

Come along with your school class and experience this event with us! If a pupil from your school is on stage, cheer them on, make banners or come with fan T-shirts! Or come as a "neutral" spectator and let yourself be carried away as young people express their thoughts and feelings on stage in their lyrics and turn them into poetry.
