Things could hardly get worse for Kluftinger: He has just been elected to the local council and has to deal with his arch-rival and political opponent Langhammer, when he faces his next challenge. An Allgäu influencer is found dead in the spectacular gorge of the "Eistobel". A tragic accident caused by a daring maneuver to take the best Instagram photo? Or a coldly calculated murder? The detective has to delve deep into the illusory world of digital self-staging. Because behind the filtered images lurk envy, hatred and fierce competition. Kluftinger gropes his way through a minefield of likes, followers and reach, only to discover that hardly anyone in this world plays with their cards on the table.

Volker Klüpfel and Michael Kobr have known each other longer than they have known each other: since their school days together in Kempten. After graduating, Klüpfel became a journalist and Kobr a secondary school teacher. They are now both full-time authors and are best known for their crime novels featuring Inspector Kluftinger. But the two have also achieved success without the grumpy Allgäuer: with the vacation novel In der ersten Reihe sieht man Meer, the thriller Draußen and the crook comedy Die Unverbesserlichen.
