Many situations that Orwell described in 1948 as a frightening vision of the future seem disturbingly relevant to us in 2025. But “1984” is far more

than a dystopia; it tells the love story of Winston and Julia. But is it possible to live a life of love in times when everyone distrusts everyone else?

Once again this year, the Theater in der Meerwiese is participating as a venue in the NRW-wide SPIELARTEN festival for young audiences with a selection of productions. The festival guarantees exciting and inspiring theater experiences for everyone ages two and up. It showcases the diversity and high artistic quality of the contemporary independent theater scene in North Rhine-Westphalia. A total of six productions for daycare centers, schools, and families will be presented at the Meerwiese. Theater reveals worlds, tells stories, conveys emotions, and poses questions. The artists always keep young audiences at the center of their work. But adults shouldn’t be surprised if they find themselves captivated as well. Let yourself be surprised!
