Florian Stadler on accordion and Christina Fuchs on soprano saxophone/ clarinets form a duo that aims to redefine the boundaries of improvised music and create fascinating worlds of sound. Their music is a symbiosis of depth and interaction, organic and intuitive. They interweave common musical ideas, leave room for silence and sudden outbursts, and seem to be connected by an invisible bond.
Their latest album Roots & Rhyzomes was released in 2024 by JazzHausMusik Köln in co-production with Deutschlandfunk.
"With "Roots and Rhyzomes", the Cologne duo FLUX presents a masterpiece of improvised chamber music. The 14 artistic, complex but also lyrical pieces reveal the deep artistic bond between saxophonist/clarinetist Christina Fuchs and accordionist Florian Stadler, which has grown over the past 25 years. Their instruments enter into a close symbiotic relationship, carried by a dense "root network" (rhizome) of themes, motifs and textures. Fuchs and Stadler improvise freely and without notes from the moment. Their decades of familiarity give them a keen sense of each other, immediate reactions and fruitful musical dialogs."
