Adrián Castelló - Vitruvian Human

In the organizer's words:

Vitruvian Human

Adrián Castelló

Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci's drawing of the Vitruvian Man as the epitome of the perfect form of the "well-formed human being", the Vitruvian Human is the starting point for the examination and deconstruction of traditional social lifeworlds as the guiding idea of the production. The old model of man is deconstructed.

Vitruvian Human opens itself out of the clinging of ideal conceptions and traditional understandings of roles. Vitruvian Human creates a modern, individual, diverse and expansive version of a model of man.

In an interdisciplinary approach of contemporary dance and new circus, a dancer and a dancer act, in a stage set of squares and circles. Two Cyrl-Wheels are actively involved in the performance and form the interface between contemporary dance and New Circus. The symbolism of circle and square is taken up in its components. The circle stands for the infinite, the heavenly, the feminine. The square stands for the limited, the earthly, the masculine. It is the symbolism of a binary world view. As a basic form these elements, which are not changeable in themselves, remain. On the physical forms of the Cyrl-Wheel, the exploration of the individuality of the human will unfold, questioned and redefined, multilayered and diverse.
