"Like Lovers Do", written by Sivan Ben Yishai, is a radical and deeply poetic examination of the abysses of romantic love. Ben Yishai dissects the language, the images and the promises with which we approach each other. It mercilessly exposes the extent to which these are permeated by control, social expectations and possessiveness. What begins as a search for closeness often turns out to be a web of power and violence. The play moves in a permanent field of tension between desire and destruction, between longing and the harsh reality of patriarchal structures.

Experience a linguistic space that explores the boundaries between closeness and repulsion in fast-paced, often fragmented scenes: Here, the characters ceaselessly strive to get through to each other, yet repeatedly bump up against the roles imposed on them. In the process, the private love affair becomes a sharp mirror of larger structures of violence: between the sexes, the bodies and the ideologies of our time. Anyone who is ready for theater that doesn't pacify, but provokes, hurts and resonates for a long time, will be gripped by this examination of modern romance.

Sivan Ben Yishai is one of the most frequently performed and most radical playwrights of our time. Her texts are known for their rhythmic force and unyielding political stance. "Like Lovers Do" is a furious reckoning with myths and conditions that still shape us today.

Information on accessibility

Duration: approx. 60 minutes

People with hearing aids can use the hearing system. The hearing system works via induction.

The event room is barrier-free. Steps and lifting platform, arrangements can be made for seating. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet.

We can reserve wheelchair accessible seats or accessible seating for you.

The parking spaces at the venue are suitable for people with disabilities and can be used by prior arrangement. They are located directly on the premises and are marked. In the surrounding streets (e.g. Voksgartenstraße, Vorgebirgsstraße) there are plenty of inexpensive parking spaces.

The various support requirements can be specified when purchasing tickets. This allows us to prepare well.

People with the "B" mark on their disabled person's pass can take advantage of a free ticket for an accompanying person.

Guide dogs and assistance dogs are very welcome. Please let us know if you are bringing a dog to the performance.

In addition to volume and strobe lighting, please note that the production deals with sexualized violence and abuse and contains explicit language and nudity. It is not suitable for children and young people. Furthermore, (fake) blood is used in the play.
