In the organizer's words:
Álka and the Dragon of Happiness – A Dragon Searches for Lost Gratitude
“Álka and the Happiness Dragon” is a musical mindfulness puppet show for children ages 5 and up by Leipzig-based artists Eva-Maria Schneider and Malo Moray.
The dragon’s companion, Álka (Eva-Maria Schneider), tells the story of how she met her dragon, Murxfried the Last: Long ago, happiness dragons all over the earth fed on people’s happiness and gratitude, making the world shine golden. But then envy arrived—and with it, gratitude, dragons, and light vanished. Only Murxfried remains, and he needs every single child to bring the gold back.
With live music by Malo Moray, the atmosphere becomes immediately tangible; the children are actively involved. In the second part of the play, a musical meditation invites the audience to reflect on what they themselves are grateful for.
“Hope is not the conviction that things will turn out well, but the certainty that they have meaning, no matter how they turn out.” (Václav Havel) —this is precisely the sentiment the play conveys, wrapped up in an enchanting puppet show.
