This year, FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is honoring the one and only Jessica Lange with the CineMerit Award for her contributions to the art of film. Her impressive career spans more than four decades and is crowned by two Oscars, five Golden Globes, three Emmys and a Tony.

On June 30, Jessica Lange will personally present the International Premiere of her latest film THE GREAT LILLIAN HALL. After an in-depth discussion on stage, she will receive our CineMerit Award for her services to cinema.

About the film: During rehearsals for Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard", Broadway star Lillian Hall increasingly struggles with confusion and forgetfulness. At night, she tosses and turns in her sleep, hallucinating about her deceased husband. But the show must go on, because Lillian's life has been the theater for decades and her goal remains opening night. At the director's urgent request, she visits a doctor. The diagnosis is clear and catches Lillian cold. With the help of her close confidante Edith, she tries to hide her dementia - from her colleagues, but also from her only daughter - a balancing act between the needs of the family and her desire for the limelight. Jessica Lange is inspiring in this emotional drama about getting older and the sum of the roles you play in life.
