Anissa Loucif: Kopftuchmädchen
In the organizer's words:
In this autobiographical book, Anissa Loucif recounts her unusual life journey. After years as an anesthesiologist, she decides to leave medicine behind and take to the comedy stage. There, she draws on experiences from her professional life, her daily family life, and her life as a Muslim woman in Germany, all with a great deal of humor. With candor and self-deprecating humor, she writes about her German-Arab family, challenges at the hospital, looking for a partner and dating, as well as the expectations she faces as a Muslim woman who wears a headscarf. In doing so, she addresses questions and prejudices she encounters time and again, and describes how she has found her own path amid diverse cultural and social influences.
The book combines personal stories with humorous observations and offers insights into the life of a woman who is simultaneously a doctor, a mother, a Muslim, and a comedian. It explores themes of identity, self-determination, and the courage to step off well-trodden paths and seize new opportunities.
