Maurice Conrad doesn’t fit into any box. Unconventional and bold—originally a software engineer, now a rapper and a bridge between the stage, irony, and substance—Maurice Conrad from Mainz has a lot to say. His bluntly liberated approach to gender roles and queer sexuality is a red flag for many, especially in the German rap scene. Yet Maurice remains undaunted as a threat to established masculinity, delightfully representing himself and sparking discussions while bringing visibility to a new generation.

As a result, Maurice’s first self-released tracks didn’t go unnoticed for long: The music video for the song “CSD in Sonneberg,” in which he appeared in response to election results, garnered more than one million impressions on X and went viral on Instagram and TikTok. In the summer of 2024, a CSD was finally celebrated in Sonneberg for the first time—and Maurice, of course, performed there.

Conrad responds to any attempts at intimidation and threats with provocation and humor, even incorporating them into his musical development.

Nevertheless, Maurice Conrad’s music exists independently

from the hatred directed at them: self-deprecating, cheerful rap meets electronically infused

party hits.
