Antrittskonzert: Alberto García

Alberto García (born 1990) is a composer, educator, and virtuoso percussionist who is considered one of the most versatile and influential voices on today’s jazz scene. His extraordinary skill on percussion instruments and his deep understanding of jazz, flamenco, and Afro-Cuban and Brazilian musical traditions have led him to collaborate with some of the most prominent figures in jazz and world music. He has collaborated with Seamus Blake, Alfredo de la Fé, Haila, Alain Pérez, and Jeff Ballard, building bridges between genres and pushing the boundaries of percussion in modern jazz. Alberto García is a professor of jazz percussion at the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts, as well as a lecturer at the Winterthur Conservatory and the Jazzcampus Basel.
