Ask Me About: Mediale Narrative

In the organizer's words:

With their community platform KARAKAYA TALKS, Esra Karakaya and Djenna Wehenpohl have been dealing with perspectives that are underrepresented in the media as well as a power-critical classification and opening up of classically constructed discourse spaces for years. With Ask Me About, they place a thematic focus on media narratives: on the questions of how social reality is told, who shapes these narratives and which perspectives become visible in them - or remain invisible.

Through a spatial-social intervention, the spaces in between at HKW become decentralized fields of conversation: Foyers and transitions throughout the building are transformed into homely settings. In several small groups, participants will enter into conversation with people who have situated, experience-based knowledge and assume temporary speaking positions - including journalists, artists, community organizers and actors with institutional responsibility. This creates places for informal exchange where participants can speak openly and authentically and share personal experiences.

Due to a sporting event, there will be road closures around the HKW between June 1 and 5, 2026. The building can be reached by public transport - S-Bahn (Hauptbahnhof) and U-Bahn (Bundestag) - as well as by bike or on foot.
