Aufklärung NOW Festival Vol. 3

In the organizer's words:

Human rights, equality, racism, tolerance, education - the topics of the Enlightenment are still topical and relevant in the 21st century. At the third festival in the "Enlightenment NOW" series, young people from Berlin's urban community will once again present their perspectives on the Enlightenment and discuss the questions of the 18th century from today's perspective in the exhibition "What is Enlightenment? Questions for the 18th century", they will discuss the questions of the 18th century from today's perspective.

The groups involved in the outreach project will present their creative products; for example, the Lohana Berkins education center will hold a workshop on linoleum printing, which will focus on a migrant perspective on the effects of the slave trade in the age of mercantilism. The exhibition "What is Enlightenment? Questions for the 18th Century", 30-minute deep dives are held in German, English and Spanish on the topics of gender models, human rights and colonialism.

At 17:15, alumni of the Youth Debates program will discuss what role the Enlightenment era should play in the identity and self-portrayal of the Federal Republic of Germany. Afterwards, poetry slammer Fabian Navarro will discuss the era at 6.30 pm.

The Improvisionäre, an improv theater group from Berlin, will stroll through the museum as fictional characters of the Enlightenment, such as the hidden author, the women's rights activist and housewife, the impatient serf and the hopeful Enlightenment man, and interact with visitors. A photo station offers the opportunity to dress up as a person from the 18th century with costumes and headgear.

With Free admission until 11 pm, we also invite you to listen to electronic music by Bøgen, take part in improv theater or produce fanzines. Snacks and drinks will also be provided in the atmospherically lit glass foyer of the Pei-Bau.
