Accompanied by his pregnant girlfriend Alice, Koffi returns to his birthplace in the Congo after many years of absence. His family there meets him with suspicion and prejudice. They call him "Zabolo", which means "devil's mark", as he was born with a birthmark. This visually stunning, fantastic feature film debut by the versatile artist Baloji tells the story of an alienation from one's own roots, followed by an attempt to reconnect in order to heal old wounds.
