Aus der Kuchengartenstraße nach Grünau. Eine fotografische Dokumentation von Karla Voigt (3.6. – 22.9.2026)

Location: Grünau district store, Quartiersmanagement Grünau, Stuttgarter Allee 19, 04209 Leipzig

From 1979 to 1981, Karla Voigt documented the move of a house community from the desolate Kuchengartenstraße 8 in the Reudnitz district to the new prefabricated buildings with bathrooms and central heating in the large housing estate Grünau as part of her diploma thesis. Her social documentary work shows people who retained their social ties despite the move and captures life between the building site, the move and modern living in pictures and text. The impressive photo collages by Karla Voigt will be shown in the Grünau district store in the 50th anniversary year of Grünau.
