AWARDED! - AWARD-WINNING SHORT FILMS BY KHM STUDENTS
Guests: The directors and teams will be present
The Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) invites you to a short film program in its auditorium on the opening evening of the Cologne Cinema Nights. Five short films will be shown that have received awards from juries or the audience at international film festivals over the last twelve months and can now be seen once again on the big screen at their place of origin in Cologne. For example, the documentary "Ich hätte lieber einen anderen Film gemacht" by Suse Itzel, created as a diploma thesis at the KHM, received the prize for the best experimental film 2026 at the renowned Slamdance Festival in Los Angeles. The animated film "So ist das Leben, und nicht anders." by Lenia Friedrich, also a graduation film, was awarded the prize for best university film at the San Sebastián International Film Festival 2025. The graduation film "Nuestra sombra" by Agustina Sánchez Gavier will also be shown again in the program. After its premiere in Cannes 2024, the feature film was invited to over 50 festivals and received numerous awards.
The films tell personal, social and political stories and range from feature films, documentaries and animated films to experimental forms and hybrid narratives.
We cordially invite you to take a tour of the KHM. From July 15 to 19, discover the current artistic works of the students in the exhibition rooms, in the auditorium and in the Filmforum. Free admission.
