What images and narratives do young people from Germany and Tanzania associate with sustainability?

Sixteen young people from Germany and Tanzania spent several months intensively exploring this question.

The exhibition "Expanding Narratives. Youth and their Images of Sustainability" takes place simultaneously in Cologne and Dar es Salaam and provides an insight into the photographic perspectives of these young people; what (non-)sustainability can mean to them and which images shape their ideas.

The young artists developed their own photographic responses from reflections, discussions and joint observations. These show personal, critical and creative perspectives on narratives of sustainability. In addition to individual perspectives, experiences and ideas were shared in a transcultural exchange.

The exhibition invites visitors to discover these visual narratives about responsibility, the future and cohesion and to broaden their view of possible shared sustainable futures.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on 17.01.2026 . Admission from 16:00, start and hybrid switch to Dar Es Salaam from 17:00. The vernissage will also be broadcast online. If you wish to participate online, please send an email to: info@expanding-narratives.de.
