DER SPIEGEL justified Barbara Morgenstern's exceptional status in German pop as follows: "She is intellectual and soulful at the same time, her sound is often as ethereal and sweetly cuddly as her bright vocals, but deals with the really tough topics in her lyrics and gestures." Since her beginnings in the Berlin living room scene of the 90s, Morgenstern has artfully enriched German pop music with over a dozen albums with a virtuoso minimalism that was otherwise better known from John Cale or Robert Wyatt. As a theater musician, she has also worked on several award-winning productions by Rimini Protokoll and most recently performed with the performance group Showcase Beat Le Mot at Kampnagel. Now she returns with her new album "In anderem Licht", which was recorded at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. The chamber music double album tells of the impending climate catastrophe, the hope for necessary social transformation processes and a possible liberation from the state of general paralysis. At Kampnagel, Barbara Morgenstern will perform her musical manifesto for change on the grand piano and with an ensemble.
